Booklets on Science
Unless otherwise noted, I was the primary author for these booklets (often adapting material from one or several parent reports), oversaw the booklets' design and dissemination, and served as the primary developer for accompanying websites.
New Horizons in Plant Sciences
This booklet highlights recent achievements of the National Plant Genome Initiative and explores the critical role the plant genome sciences can play in meeting 21st century challenges in agriculture, energy, environmental stewardship, human health, and more.

Ecological Impacts of Climate Change
Life on Earth is profoundly affected by the planet's climate. This booklet brings the challenge of climate change to life with compelling examples of ecological changes that are being observed across the United States. I also developed a set of presentation modules to complement the booklet.- Download booklet (PDF: 8 MB)

Drinking Water: Understanding the Science & Policy Behind a Critical Resource
The United States is fortunate to enjoy sophisticated public drinking water systems
that provide clean, reliable water—a resource critical to our health and quality of
life. This booklet
offers an introduction to the science and policy
of keeping America's taps flowing.- Download booklet (PDF: 1.6 MB)

Ocean Science Series
This series of educational booklets is intended to
help readers interpret information about the state of our oceans and better understand
the role of ocean science. Working in collaboration with several other writers, I oversaw the development and dissemination of four of the five booklets in this series: Oceans and Human Health, Coastal Hazards, Pollution in the Ocean, and Marine Ecosystems and Fisheries.
